Practical Proposal
The group that I was hoping to use for my human experience would be the non-profit organization called Loaves and Fishes, who are ready to distribute food to families across Mecklenburg County who are going through short-term crisis. In any way they can, they try to meet the needs of everyone. If I were to be able to join this cause I would hope to use myself in helping deliver canned food and other non-perishables across the county to different stops along the way, taking around three to four hours. There is also a phone center where you can help assist people that are in need. I figured out the times I could work and they are in the mornings on Tuesday and Thursday and also all day Friday. This volunteer experience seems quite strenuous, but also very rewarding. The dress style is casual, and the organization has a very flexible work schedule. The reason I chose this experience of a group was to really see why they work so hard and use such a large profit just to help someone who has fallen suddenly because of disaster or distress. I have been the one to fall suddenly in disaster in my life. My back up for this assignment is Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Charlotte. I wanted to make this my first choice, but was in fear that my class schedule would not agree. I have not really talked to this organization, but I know they have a more flexible schedule for college students wanting to volunteer. This is most definitely a suitable second choice because of the large number of children of all ages in this community that has suffered from abuse and neglect, and that are in need of someone.
